Shogunate was the shogunate which enforced the Period of Isolation which was
shown over Japan for 260 years. The Tokugawa were becoming very suspicious of
foreigners who tried to change the Japanese traditions which had been held for
a very long time. When the period of isolation started a few things started to
change the Japanese Society

ended when the Americans opened the Japan by making them sign the treaty of
Kangawa which meant that Japan was finally let open back to the rest of the
world.

traders could operate only through the port of Nagaski - Japanese Citizens were also
forbidden to travel overseas - The Tokugawa Shogunate
