The flintlock gun was an extremely important invention for the American Revolution and would have assisted the Americans in establishing a deal with Japan with the idea of them opening Japan up to the rest of the world. The flintlock gun would have also have assisted the Americans in establishing the Treaty of Kanagawa.

The flintlock gun is based on the very simple principle that includes the mechanism of creating a spark to light gun powder in the barrel. With this contained explosion inside the barrel. It forces the ammunition to shoot out the other side of the barrel which has the idea of hitting an individual or thing which is meant to inflict damage.

The flintlock gun was popular to the Americans because the gun was inexpensive to make and was a good weapon for far combat so that the Americans could take force of Japan if need be from their ships instead of Japanese Soil
